Hoping for a beautiful Spring!

April began with sunny days, and ended with rainy days. We hope the old adage, April showers bring May flowers, is true. Especially here at Park Terrace. We have been tending all of the seeds we are growing and hope that when we plant them outside this May that they yield lots of lovely flowers for all to enjoy! Many of our residents are looking forward to planting and tending our garden over the next few months. Park Terrace will be hosting many other fun events for our residents to look forward to also! We will have a lot of music this month…in addition to our weekly happy hours we will be having a piano recital, a concert by the McHarrietown Choir, and a concert by the OCC Jazz Ensemble. We will also be continuing our trips to Beaver Lake to take the Nature On Wheels Tour. This is a very nice ride through the woods to see and hear about Beaver Lake and it’s history. There will be lots of different activities to do throughout the month, and hopefully there is something to peak everyone’s interest. All are always welcome at activities, so we hope to see everyone there!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Spring is here in full force. We have had some beautiful days in March and hope that April has more to offer. In addition to beautiful weather (hopefully) there are a lot of fun activities to look forward to this month. The most exciting event is Park Terrace’s 10 Year Anniversary. We will be celebrating on April 12th with an Open House to show off our beautiful home to friends, family, and community members. It is a very exciting time for Park Terrace and all of our wonderful residents. We have Easter to look forward to this month as well, and with Easter comes coloring Easter Eggs, and a special Easter Egg Hunt inside our building. Everyone should come out and find an egg or two filled with candy or maybe another surprise! We also have the Beacon Baptist Church Choir coming in to give and Easter Concert. In addition to all of our holiday themed activities, we will be going out to lunch this month and even having a special cupcake frosting event. With the weather getting warmer and sunnier, lots of our residents will take advantage of the path and benches around outside our building, and our gardeners will be cleaning out the old from the garden and looking forward to the new blooms coming in. It is a fresh and exciting time of year for all. We hope to see everyone out and about!

In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb

This winter has not been very fierce so far, but it will still be okay if March goes out like a lamb! While most of us have enjoyed having such a mild winter, everyone is looking forward to Spring. The first day of Spring is March 20. That will be the day we plant our flower and vegetable seeds for the Park Terrace Garden. It will be a fun project to watch and tend our seeds as they become little green shoots and eventually full grown plants. That is only one of the things that we have to look forward to this March. March Madness is going to be exciting this year, especially with the Syracuse University Men’s Basketball team playing so well. We all have high hopes for our Orangemen to go far in the NCAA Tournament this year! Park Terrace will have lots of fun events going on to keep us all busy in March. There will be a lunch out at Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub in Syracuse on St. Patrick’s Day week. Also, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Youth Group will be throwing a St. Patty ‘s Day Party for our residents. We will also be having a game show here at Park Terrace called “Thanks for the Memories”. This is a really fun trivia show that everyone can enjoy and participate in. There are lots of activities going on and tons of fun to be had…so come on out and see what it’s all about!

Will This Weather Hold?

If Punxatawey Phil sees his shadow and forecasts that we have six more weeks of winter this year no one will be very upset. The winter has been so mild…in fact, January was the ninth warmest January on record…with an average temperature of 31 degrees. Even more exciting than the warm weather has been the lack of snow…all winter we have only received 31.8 inches of snow! We could only be so lucky to get six more weeks of weather just like that! While we are all enjoying our weather, even more so, most of our residents are enjoying following our Syracuse University Men’s Basketball Team this year. Currently we are ranked number 2 in the nation and we hope we can get to Number 1 again. So far we have only suffered one loss. All SU fans have high hopes as we head into some tough competition in February that will (hopefully) lead us to a good position for March Madness! Moving on the football, the SuperBowl is coming up and we will be having a party in the Main Living Room at six o’clock. Come down and join the festivities and watch the game (and commercials) with the crowd! There are a lot of fun activities slated for February and it would be great to see lots of people at all of them, so come on out and join the fun…the more, the merrier!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The year 2012 has arrived. And with it came the snow! While many people hoped the snow would never arrive, just as many people were excited to see the world outdoors covered in white. When the sun is glistening on the snow covered ground it is a really beautiful sight to see! It makes us all realize what a wonderful world we live in, as long as we don’t have to go outside too much! We all know what comes along with the New Year…New Year’s Resolutions. It is interesting to see what people’s resolutions are and if they follow them throughout the year! January will bring a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, a return to the normalcy that everyone needs. The activity calendar is full of our regular activities that will be keeping us busy through these cold, wintery months. We also have each other to keep us company during the long season!
